Cabinet
Picture a 650 square foot apartment and how every inch counts and then a 32,000 square foot house and how to strategize storage. In the first, partitions are the best utilization of space if you rent your apartment. Interior shelving and drawers are critical to the maximizing closet space. Freestanding bookcases lining a wall can hold the television and add decoration to a small space. Sliding Doors are great for hiding possessions in a small space as you can add more furniture to the room without worrying about the doors opening into it. In a large home, you can create custom cabinetry or use Italian cabinetry to add to your Master Bedroom Suite. Conveniences from microwaves and under counter refrigerators to ironing boards can be hidden within. Track lighting can be used to highlight them. Floor to ceiling mirrors make dressing easier and an ottoman can add some comfort to the space.
We have designed and installed cabinetry all across New York and the tri-state area.
Kitchen
Listening to the client and their lifestyle preferences is the key to a new kitchen design. Are you a cook or do you microwave? The answer will result in a different set-up for every cook. The distance one has to walk between appliances makes the chef. Also whether you want to separate the kitchen by a wall from your living space or not tells me about your lifestyle.
Holzman Interiors has been designing and using stock, semi stock, and custom cabinetry for nearly 20 years. We not only design the kitchen, we install it as well. Our contractors are very familiar with the products and our design requirements, and are focused on getting our client back into the kitchen as quickly as possible. Lighting and appliances are also essential in giving you the kitchen of your dreams. We consider general versus task lighting. If you are going with a gas range, we know from your location what type of gas you are allowed to use. Lastly, we can provide most of the elements of your kitchen for less money as we buy all categories more competitively.
Holzman Interiors can cover every individual aspect of kitchen interior design, leaving you free to get on with enjoying your new space.
Bath
Bathrooms can be a place of serenity as well as a place of expression. The choice of tile and implementation sets the stage. Whether the space is a total gut and relocation of the plumbing fixtures or just a remodel of style and design, a lot has to be planned before the implementation can take place. There are so many pieces to consider in spaces that range from no larger than a 5′ x 6′ box to as large as a bedroom. Toilets can be simple or as special as the Toto Neorest that does all you can imagine, but are the hardest item to relocate in a space. Minimalist and serene can be accomplished through floating cabinetry, a free standing tub, and glass to separate applications. For a more ornate look, you may want walls to define space with a separate water closet if possible. The vanities chosen would be more embellished and tile would function as an art scene.
Lighting sets the stage and is especially important when task lighting is required. More subcontractors are required to create this space than most other rooms in a house. It requires sheet rockers, a plumber, an electrician, a tiler, a glass and mirror company, and the General Contractor to keep the project moving quickly.
Considering all the elements is vital to a tasteful bathroom design.
Living
Apartment living design requires space planning. Imagine cramming all your household needs and ownership into 650 square feet. This is where clean lines work better so the apartment does not feel cluttered and unplanned. Room partitions help with storage and can make a space feel larger. Homes are luckier. You can still have the clean lines but on a grander scale, allowing the walls to create the mood. Alternatively, you can go back in time and use antiques, formal rugs and more elaborate window treatments to create an aura of history.
Classical
- Generally more ornate. It has sculpted mouldings at the ceiling and around the doors, windows, and baseboard elements. The fireplace generally has a mantel either of stone or wood surrounds. Panels on doors, cabinetry, and furniture are generally raised with appliqués.
- Tiled and wood floors may incorporate inlaid treatment or mosaics.
- General and Accent Lighting is busier in nature, using crystal, curves, and multiple candles.
Contemporary
- Generally has less. If there are moldings, they would be plain.
- Doors are flat or have recessed panels.
- Fireplaces have solid stone surrounds or glass enclosures.
- No Mantels.
- Furniture is plainer and lower to the ground.
- Lighting is recessed, using track or simple pendants and sconces.
